A nice pair of boxing gloves can cost you upwards of $100, and if you’re under a tight budget, boxing gloves can be a small priority. With this problem on mind, I looked tirelessly to find some of the best low-price boxing gloves on today’s market. After all the work, I compiled this list of the best boxing gloves under $50.
Things To Look Out For When Choosing Boxing Gloves
Before we look at that list, let’s go over some things you’ll want to look for in gloves. First and utmost, you want a pair of gloves with good, thick padding. If you’re gloves are under-padded, it could result in a hand injury, which are never pleasant to deal with. Second, you’ll want to make sure the stitching is solid and won’t give out. If you have poor stitching, then you’ll find yourself replacing those gloves after just a few months. Last of all, you want to make sure they’re a good fit. If your gloves are sliding around when you move, then you won’t be able to make solid contact with your opponent, which takes away the strength of your attacks.
So now that you know the criteria of what makes a good pair of boxing gloves, let’s take a look at the six best under $50.
Venum Challenger 2.0 Boxing Gloves
The Venum’s are one of
- Thick foam
- Adjustable fit
- Wrist support
Century Brave Youth Boxing Glove
If you’re shopping for a kid, the Century is the best option here. The padding is light, keeping it from weighing down the kid’s hands. These have the ability to last a while, but only if used in youth boxing. Otherwise, these will leave you with sore knuckles and will have you shopping again in a few months.
- Good for youth
- Mesh palms for comfort
- Solid training gloves
- Bad for adults
- Not good competition gloves
- Poor fitting
Ringside Apex Bag Gloves
The Ringside’s offer some great qualities that most gloves don’t offer. To start, they have a ventilated palm and thumb to keep your hands cool and dry while fighting. Not only does this just add comfort, but it also keeps the gloves from sliding around on your hand. They also offer some of the best wrist support out there. With a hook and loop wrist wrap, it keeps the glove stationary while not cutting off circulation.
- Wrist Support
- Surface of the glove is slippery
- Bulky and heavy
- Poor foam
ProForce Leatherette Boxing Gloves w/Red Palm
These are great for the occasional boxer. If you plan on using them 2-3 times a week in training situations, these gloves are a great fit for you. If you need an everyday pair, these probably won’t be a great fit for you. Going up against a bag these will serve you well, as your hands won’t feel a thing. But against a live person, don’t expect the same level of forgiveness.
- Good for training
- Not an everyday pair
- Not durable
- Not good for sparring
RDX Maya Hide Leather Boxing Gloves Gel Sparring Glove Punching Bag Mitts Training Muay Thai F7
The leather on these gloves can not be compared, as it is top notch. Not only does this give you a good surface on the face of the glove, but that, paired with the stitching, give the gloves a long lifetime. One of the few issues I see with this pair is that the wrist protection is not to be desired for. It lacks latex and firm support to keep your wrists safe.
- Quality leather
- Good striking pad
- Poor wrist protection
- Lacks comfortability
Meister Pro Boxing Gloves w/ Wrist Support
The Meister’s offer one of the most comfortable pairs of gloves available. Not only that, but the wrist support on these gloves is fantastic. When in these gloves, wrist injuries are not an issue. Despite these good qualities, the Meisters come with their fair share of bad ones too. The gloves can sometimes be a little bulky, weighing you down in a fight. They also have a durability issue, as the stitching may start coming out after just a few months of use.
- Wrist support
- Good ventilation
- Not durable
When it comes to buying boxing gloves, saving money while finding a good pair can be difficult. And although the list above has their fair share of setbacks, for the price, you’ll won’t be left unsatisfied with the quality of the product.
